In this video, the dot blotting technique is introduced as a method for identifying the presence or absence of biomolecules such as DNA, RNA, or proteins in tissues or samples. It is a simplified form of Southern, Northern, or Western blotting, with its main advantage being that it does not require electrophoresis, which is the separation of biomolecules based on size. Consequently, there is no need to transfer biomolecules from a gel to a membrane. Instead, samples are directly added to the membrane as dots, simplifying the process of analyzing different biomolecules, such as protein samples.
