A bolt circle diameter or pitch circle diameter (PCD), sometimes simply called bolt circle or pitch circle, is a common term for when a number of screw holes for bolts are evenly distributed with their centers along an imaginary circle with a given diameter.
The Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD) is the diameter of the circle which passes through the centre of all the studs, wheel bolts or wheel rim holes. The easiest way to calculate the PCD is as follows: Identify the size of the rim or tyre size. (This helps to narrow down the likely PCD sizes)
Pitch diameter is an important dimension used to describe threaded fasteners such as bolts and nuts. It is the diameter of an imaginary cylinder that passes through the threads at the point where the width of the threads and the width of the spaces between the threads are equal.
P.C.D. is the Pitch Circle Diameter and is the diameter of an imaginary circle drawn through the centres of the holes. To calculate the P.C.D. of a three stud wheel or hub measure between two holes next to each other (as with five stud below) and multiply by 1.154. The P.C.D.
Just measure the centre-to-centre distance of two adjacent studs and then multiple the result you get by the following figures: For 3 stud PCDs - Multiply your measurement by 1.154 to get your PCD figure. For 5 stud PCDs - Multiply your measurement by 1.7021 to get your PCD diameter.
