Bolt circle diameter or BCD is the imaginary circle that passes through the center of all the chainring mounting holes. Most e*thirteen chainrings, bashguards and cranks use the most common BCD for mountain bikes, 64/104.
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Cen Line. 2. Click Bolt Circle.
If youre looking at the hole in a crankset, imagine a circle that went directly through the center of each hole overlayed on the crankset. The diameter of that circle is the BCD. When you see a measurement like 110 or 130 BCD, that means that diameter is 110 or 130 millimeters, respectively.
Understanding Chainring Measurements Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) is the diameter of an imaginary circle running through the center of the chainring mounting holes.
Bolt Circle Diameter Measurement The bolt holes will all be the same diameter and arranged in diametrically opposite pairs. Looking at the flange end-on, measure from the left edge of the leftmost hole to the left edge of the hole diametrically opposite. (Or measure from right edge to right edge.)
Most chainrings mount via a four- or five-arm spider (the arms/spokes on the crankset). The spacing between these arms differs based on the intended gear range of the crankset, the number of chainrings it has and its intended use. This size is referred to as bolt circle diameter, or BCD for short.
5 Bolt Chainring Measurement Made Easy Chainrings are most often measured in reference to their Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) depicted as B in the above picture. BCD is literally the diameter of an imaginary circle that connects the centers of all the chainring bolts.
In this case, they are usually designated as something like 104/64 BCD. That means 104 mm bolt circle diameter for the larger ring, and a 64 mm diameter for the smaller ring. Other common multi-circled (if thats a proper word) sizes are 120/80 BCD for SRAM style mountain 210s and 130/74 BCD for Road Triples.
