You probably already know how to insert a caption to a chart or an image in a Word document. From the References tab, you click on Insert Caption and you can select the label that you would like to use. If you only have a couple of charts, it is not a problem, and with a few clicks you are all set. But, what if you are working with a document with dozens of charts or images. The process soon becomes boring, tedious and time-consuming. Following this guide, and copying and pasting the VBA code you will find in the description, you can add captions to dozens of charts or images in a matter of seconds! Go to the developer tab. If the developer tab is not visible on the ribbon, go to File, then Options, Customize Ribbon, and in the Main Tabs menu make sure that Developer is checked. Right click on Modules, and select Insert, and then New Module. Copy and paste the following VBA code, and click the green button in the taskbar, or click on Run, and then Run Sub/U

(Click File Options in Word 2016/2013/2010.) Step 2: Click Advanced on the left pane, uncheck Show picture placeholders under Show document content. Then you should be able to see your hidden images or pictures in Word document again.
Click File Options Display, and then under Always show these formatting marks on the screen, select the Hidden text check box. Click File Options Advanced, and then under Show document content, select the Show drawings and text boxes on screen check box.
It is likely the hidden caption is under one of your figures in a text box. On the Home tab activate the Selection Pane and use that to find the caption. Once you have the text box selected, you can move it, change its wrapping, or delete it and create a new Caption.
To add a caption to a figure, table, or other object: Right-click the object you wish to caption and select Insert Caption from the pop-up menu. To get this option for tables, you can hover your cursor over the table and right-click the crosshair icon that appears at the top-left corner of the table.
On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption. In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a figure or equation. If the list doesnt provide the label you want, click New Label, type the new label in the Label box, and then click OK.
Word Click the picture you want to add a caption to. Click References Insert Caption. To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.
Captions for tables are placed above the table (typically left aligned), and captions for figures are placed below the figure.
Right-click (or ctrl-click) the table and select Insert Caption. If you dont see this option, right-click or ctrl-click the crosshairs at the top-left corner of the table instead. If you still dont see this option, click the References tab and select Insert Caption on the ribbon.
