What is the red circle with numbers on icons?

An icon badge displays as a small circle or a number on the corner of an apps icon. If an app has one or more notifications, it will have a badge. Some apps will combine multiple notifications into one and may only show the number 1. Other times, the badge may go away if you clear your notifications.

Why is the badge count not showing up on my Mac?

The count appears only if Badge app icon is selected for Mail in Notifications settings. To open Notifications settings, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Notifications in the sidebar.

How do I remove apps from the dock on my Mac?
