Army Sustainment Command (ASC) provides globally responsive strategic logistics capabilities and materiel readiness to enable Combatant Commanders to conduct the full range of military operations. ASC is the Army Materiel Commands (AMC) single face to the field and synchronizes and executes logistics.
Army Service Corps, 18881918 The War Department Fleet was transferred to the Corps in 1891, and the ASC also absorbed some transport elements of the Royal Engineers. Furthermore, the Corps of Military Staff Clerks was amalgamated into the Supply branch of the ASC in 1893.

In 1918 the ASC received the Royal prefix for its service in the First World War and became the Royal Army Service Corps. The RASC was divided into Transport and Supply Branches, with the Supply trades including butchers, bakers and supply issuers.

During the First World War, the Army Service Corps (ASC) operated the transport systems that delivered ammunition, food and equipment to the Front Line. The ASC used motor vehicles, the railways and waterways as part of a complex supply line linking Britain to the various Fronts.
The Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) was the unit responsible for keeping the British Army supplied with all its provisions barring weaponry, military equipment and ammunition, which were under the remit of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
The army astronaut device was approved on May 17, 1983. The black version of the device and its sew-on equivalent may be worn on the Army Combat Uniform (ACU); the silver wings with gold device version is authorized for wear on Army Service Uniforms. It is believed to be the rarest badge issued by the U.S. Army.
The badge was introduced in 1916 for women involved in munitions production and was issued after the completion of two months work. On War Service badges were issued by the government and private firms from December 1914 onwards to signify that the wearer was engaged in essential war work.
That unit went on to absorb some of the Royal Engineers transport duties. In recognition of its major undertakings in supplying troops during the First World War (1914-18), it was given the honour of a Royal prefix. The Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) subsequently went on to serve in all of the Armys operations.
