MACs use authentication cryptography to verify the legitimacy of data sent through a network or transferred from one person to another.
If you see Hold for Authentication on your print job in the print queue on your Mac, it is likely that your password was recently changed or entered incorrectly, and the old or incorrect password is stored in your Apple Keychain.
