The method of calculating age involves the comparison of a persons date of birth with the date on which the age needs to be calculated. The date of birth is subtracted from the given date, which gives the age of the person. i.e., Age formula = Given date - Date of birth.
Take the difference between the current day and their birth day: days = current day - birth day . Replace these differences in the age formula: age = (years 365) + (months 31) + days . This is the persons age in days. Divide the result by 365 to get the age in years.
In our example we have included the header row and we want to sort by the age column in an ascending order. To achieve this we first check the box next to Data has header row, then we will select age from the Sort by dropdown menu. Finally we will ensure the button next to A Z is selected.
For example, =YEARFRAC(A1, B1) where A1 contains the start date and B1 the end date, will calculate the fraction of the year between the two dates and register the result in the cell you have selected.
Calculate Age in Excel Using the ROUNDDOWN Function Step 1 - Choose the cell where you want the age to appear (e.g., cell D2). Step 2 - Type the following formula into the selected cell: =ROUNDDOWN((TODAY() - B2)/365.25,0) Step 3 - Press Enter to execute the formula and display the calculated age.
When the current age is x, age n years later = x + n. When the current age is x, age n years ago = x n. The ages in a ratio a: b will be ax and bx. when the current age is x,1/n of the age is x/n.
Important Formulas on Problems on Ages : If the current age is x, then age n years ago = xn. If the current age is x, then age n years later = x+n. If the current age is x, then age n years ago = x n. The ages in a ratio a : b will be ax and bx.
Using the DATEDIF Function In an empty cell, enter the formula: =DATEDIF(startdate, enddate, unit) Replace startdate with the cell reference of the birth date. Replace enddate with the formula =TODAY() to get the current date dynamically.
