hi Iamp;#39;m Scott Monahan Mollyamp;#39;s technology evangelist for blackout today Iamp;#39;m going to show you how easy it is to redact PII with blackout the automated redaction tool for relativity so what weamp;#39;re looking at here is a is a case that a client has is a class action case and the client has overcharged their customers in 2015 and what they have to do is they need to produce all the documents that show that they over charge their customers but they also need to remove all PII so weamp;#39;re going to have to remove social security numbers credit card numbers emails and then for the names we also need to remove the names but we want to replace them with the customer account number for each name here thatamp;#39;s easy to do with blackout so first weamp;#39;ve got this spreadsheet thatamp;#39;s got all kinds of PII on it and says what they overcharged in 2015 then we have several emails that the client sent out to their customers letting them know that they wer

Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro, and then do one of the following: Choose Tools Redact. On the Edit menu, choose Redact Text Images. Select the text or image in a PDF, right-click, and select Redact.
The free version of docHub will let you black out sections of a PDF, but the premium tool unlocks more features. Sign up for your free trial (unless you already have a premium account) Open your PDF document. Select Tools Redact From here, just select the text you want to black out. Hit Redact
Check the security settings for the particular file by navigating to File Properties Security. If youre redacting a PDF authored by someone else, you can ask them to send a PDF file with the security settings disabled or ask them to redact the file.
Choose Edit Redact a PDF. Select All tools Redact a PDF.
Choose Tools Redact. On the Edit Menu, choose Redact Text Images. The Redact toolset is displayed in the secondary toolbar.
Locate the Annotate toolbox on the PDFgear editing page Click the Highlight tool Select black color in the brush color selection Use your mouse to drag over the text that needs to be covered to blacken it all.
You can easily view blacked-out text in your PDF by following these steps: Open the PDF in Acrobat. Go to the Document menu. Click Examine Document. docHub will then scan the PDF and give you a checklist of items that you are able to remove by clicking on them. Choose the Preview button to see the hidden text.
To do this, navigate to Tools and select Redact Redact Text Images Find Text Redact. This makes it easy to identify and then black out that content throughout the document.
