hi Michelle sites here youamp;#39;re watching black Downton numbered headings two options hereamp;#39;s the scenario for some reason thereamp;#39;s a Grinch that may invade your document he applies a black box to a numbered heading style watch this video for two options to correct this here is option 1 put your cursor before the first word and after the black box next hit the left arrow the black box will turn gray then hit control shift s the apply style dialog box opens hit reapply the heading numbering is corrected now save the document now sometimes this option does not stick when you open the document again in that case try option 2 again put your cursor before the first word of text and after the black box again hit the left arrow the black box will turn gray hover over the box with your mouse and right-click select continue numbering the heading numbering is corrected you may have to adjust the spacing with this option just highlight a correct paragraph go to that style right
