Why wont redact work in preview?

Opening the document correctly in Preview is essential. When using the Quick Look feature, youre just peeking into a document, and that particular view doesnt support redaction. You need to actually open the document in the Preview app in order to access the redaction tools.

How to redact on Mac Preview?

Simply open your document in Preview, click Tools Redact and then select the text or image you wish to redact. Save and then close the document, and thats it. Once you have closed the document, the redaction cannot be undone.

Why cant I redact a PDF on Mac?

If youre having trouble, look for Redact in Tools, on the Edit menu, or when you control-click on text or an image that youve highlighted. Now you can share or publish your PDF with the confidence that any sensitive information is secure.

Why is my PDF not redacting?

Check the security settings for the particular file by navigating to File Properties Security. If youre redacting a PDF authored by someone else, you can ask them to send a PDF file with the security settings disabled or ask them to redact the file.
