The short answer is: IT MATTERS NOT. You may sign your will in either color legally. As the document is usually printed in black ink, your signature could be in blue ink to have your signature standout.
The answer is simple. Black ink is still the best pen for signature on most legal documents. Despite blue inks popularity, most professional documents and forms require us to use black ink. If youre applying for a new job, for instance, you may have to use a black ink pen.
For documents that will be scanned or photocopied or where your signature is ultra important (like in a passport application), its best to use black ink. Though dark blue ink may be acceptable, who wants to take the chance and run the risk of a paperwork rejection just because you didnt have a black ink pen handy?
As long as it records the intent of the parties involved in a contractual agreement, its a valid signature. Usually, this mark is made by a pen, but not necessarily. Anything that marks the paper can be a signature. Pencil is not favored because it can smudge and be erased.
Are there any specific rules for using black or blue ink colors for signatures? There are no universal rules about that, but blue ink is often preferred so that one can more easily tell the original from a copy.
