In preparation for having your documents scanned, know that financial information and account numbers can be blacked out on forms and cards such as checking account statements or ATM/Debit cards. You can use a black marker on paper statements and tape on cards to black out this information.
Redacted, a fairly common practice in legal documents, refers to the process of editing a document to conceal or remove confidential information before disclosure or publication.
Include the account number where check is being deposited into. Include the amount of each check being deposited in the area designated for checks. Each check and check number must go on its own line. Write down a subtotal for all the check amounts.
To fail to redact bank statements before you give them off to others can put you at great risk, such as fraud and identity theft. You might be surprised at the damage a fraudster can do with the available information on the bank statement.
