Start with the least fine sandpaper and fold it down to fit the size of the scratch you dont want to sand the un-scratched part of the surface. Wet the sandpaper to avoid it being too abrasive and gently rub over the scratch in a circular motion. Keep buffing until the scratch vanishes, but dont be too forceful.
I thought Id share this discovery with you of how to get rid of those annoying scuff marks which wont go away with dash cleaner. Use a dab of liquid shoe polish on a cloth and then gently rub it in. It looks like its just come from the showroom. Deifnately!
Baking soda: A baking soda paste can be used to buff out slightly deeper scratches that dont disappear with the use of toothpaste. Sandpaper: Micro-grit sandpaper is the easiest option to polish out deep scratches from plastic. It works best when dampened, to prevent further damage to the item.
You can either use epoxy to fill in and hold the plastic trim pieces together or fuse plastic trim pieces by using a plastic welding tool to melt the pieces together. After the repair, sand and paint the repaired area.
Rub Gently With a Damp Cloth Many fresh scuff marks can be removed by simply rubbing the mark with a slightly damp soft, white cloth. Its always best to give it a try to avoid damaging paint. After dipping the cloth in water, apply a bit of pressure and, if the mark is removed, buff the area with a dry white cloth.
Baking soda is a gentle mineral abrasive that will buff away scratches on plastic. Combine two parts baking soda to one part water to create a thick paste. Dip a cotton cloth in the paste and apply it to the scratched area. Work in a circular motion to buff away the scratch.
A paste of baking soda and water (mix the parts until theyre the consistency of toothpaste) is mildly abrasive, so it gently buffs away surface scuffs when you rub it on the wall in circular motions with a cloth. When youve successfully banished the scuff, wipe away the leftover bits with a clean, damp cloth.
How to Remove Shallow Scratches? Clean the plastic surface with a damp cloth, rubbing in a circular motion around the scratch. Apply a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste, furniture polish, baking soda or plastic polish to the scratch. Wipe a clean cloth over the paste you have added in a circular motion.
