If the scratches are only visible upon close inspection, sandpaper may not be necessary. Instead, use an abrasive acrylic polish (we recommend Novus No. 2) directly on the scratched area and apply consistent, moderate pressure to a clean, soft rag. Move it in a circular motion until you cant see the scratches.

Baking Soda or Toothpaste. For stubborn scuffs, baking soda can be mixed with water to create an abrasive paste. Toothpaste has a similar level of abrasiveness and can also be used with water to remove stubborn scuffs.
Follow these steps to cleaning black leather shoes, to get them looking as good as new: Dust with a soft brush to remove any debris. Apply a little toothpaste to a soft cloth. Gently rub the toothpaste onto your shoe to remove scuffs.
Try White, Non-Gel Toothpaste As a mild abrasive, toothpaste can help remove scuff marks from walls as well. To clean, place less than a pea-sized amount on a cotton swab and gently rub back and forth until the mark is removed. Then, use a clean damp cloth to wipe away residue.
Baking soda mixed with water is a mildly abrasive, eco-friendly cleaner, which can be applied with a soft cloth or sponge. Mix a solution of one tablespoon baking soda per one cup of warm water, and stir before using.
A pencil eraser works great for simple scuffs because the eraser itself is soft enough that it wont damage the leather. Apply moderate pressure and work the eraser across the scuff to remove the added material.
We recommend using a clay bar (or a synthetic clay alternative, such as a clay polymer wash mitt) in conjunction with a buffing compound to remove scuff marks and paint transfer marks from vehicle paint.
