Baking soda mixed with water is a mildly abrasive, eco-friendly cleaner, which can be applied with a soft cloth or sponge. Mix a solution of one tablespoon baking soda per one cup of warm water, and stir before using.
We recommend using a clay bar (or a synthetic clay alternative, such as a clay polymer wash mitt) in conjunction with a buffing compound to remove scuff marks and paint transfer marks from vehicle paint.
Scuff marks are those pesky black or brown marks that appear out of nowhere on your walls. Theyre usually caused by shoes rubbing against the wall or furniture being pushed too close. Black scuff marks are a pain to remove, but with a bit of elbow grease and the right tools, they can be removed relatively easily.
Of course, scuff marks can make their way onto any surface, including walls. Friction is to blame for scuff marks, especially from rubber material. Shoes, furniture, and tossed objects can leave these unsightly marks on your interior walls by rubbing against them, even briefly.
Try White, Non-Gel Toothpaste As a mild abrasive, toothpaste can help remove scuff marks from walls as well. To clean, place less than a pea-sized amount on a cotton swab and gently rub back and forth until the mark is removed. Then, use a clean damp cloth to wipe away residue.
A paste of baking soda and water (mix the parts until theyre the consistency of toothpaste) is mildly abrasive, so it gently buffs away surface scuffs when you rub it on the wall in circular motions with a cloth. When youve successfully banished the scuff, wipe away the leftover bits with a clean, damp cloth.
In entryways and hallways, heels and hard-soled shoes scrape the floor leaving behind these dark marks. In other more inconspicuous areas, you may find black scuff marks from ladders, furniture, rubber wheels of cleaning equipment, and other objects with rubber bottoms.
