Cut out part of a picture Select the picture that you want to remove the background from. On the toolbar, select Picture Format Remove Background, or Format Remove Background. The default background area will be colored magenta to mark it for removal, while the foreground will retain its natural coloring.
Click the picture. Click Picture Tools Format, and in the Size group, click the arrow under Crop. From the menu that appears, select Aspect Ratio, then click the ratio that you want. A crop rectangle appears, showing you how the picture will appear when cropped to the selected aspect ratio.
Select Insert Shapes. From the shape gallery, select a shape suitable for covering the are of the picture you want to obscure. Click and drag to draw the shape over the right area of the picture.
