If you have ever worked in an office, youll know: Itamp;#39;s often hard to concentrate, and then there are the endless meetings. Did somebody mention paperless office? And if you want a decision, you will have to wait for a bigger meeting. To raise your spirits, youamp;#39;ll go to town halls, and hear from motivational speakers. And you might remember a time when you had one boss, but now you have two Three well, many. Sound familiar? Well, all of these examples are taken from this: Its a Second World War sabotage manual distributed to resistance fighters in occupied Europe, to cripple the enemy war machine. Somehow, weamp;#39;ve taken known methods of sabotage and disruption and turned them into an ordinary day at the office. How did this happen? If we start with Keynes Okay. And the 15-hour work week. One theory suggests that if the eggs are taken as a symbol of fertility, their hollowness foreshadows how none of the children in Victory are real but simply programmed simulations, but this feels like a too-nuanced explanation for a film that far too often resorts to bluntness.
The twist ending of Dont Worry Darling is that Victory is actually a simulation.
Franks wife, Shelley (Gemma Chan), stabbed him to death while he was still inside the Victory Project, angry at how he failed to stop Alice from getting away. As a consequence, he would die in the real world, too, allowing her to fully take over the operation.
Was the plane crash in Dont Worry Darling real? No. Like Alices visions of hollow eggshells and the house closing in on her, the red plane crashing into the mountain seems to be her brain trying to alert her to danger. Notably, its the plane that pinpoints where the off-limits headquarters are.
What was that rumbling? When Alice is making Jack breakfast, and later when shes shopping with her gal pals, the world around them shudders violently, rattling glass and nerves. Peg (a crackerjack Kate Berlant) speculates that the rumblings come from underground laboratories, where Project Victory is building weapons.
Without witnessing the apparent plane crash, Alice might never have made such a breakthrough. This would mean that she would not have been able to become free of the Victory Project had she not seen the plane. For this reason, the plane in Dont Worry Darling can be seen as a symbol of Alices escape.
Alice has several disturbing hallucinations. Often, shes depicted as suffocating - walls are closing in on her, or shes pulling plastic wrap taut over her mouth. The images arent just meant to unsettle viewers, however, they indicate that shes trapped in the simulation - not just in her homemaker role.
