The CV should be professional and should include your important data. Dont include the following information. These things are not necessary: age; ethnic identity; political affiliation; religious preference; hobbies; marital status; sexual orientation; place of birth; photographs; height; weight and health.
Periods: If you use periods at the end of one sentence, use a period at the end of every sentence. Pro Tip: I highly recommend the use of periods as it also denotes a more complete statement. Avoid forcing an HR manager to wade through a bulleted list of incomplete details.
You should include 2-4 effective resume bullet points beneath the basic job information (job title, employer details, job role). You should use simple, attractive, readable bullets such as circles or hyphens. Whichever style you choose, be consistent throughout your resume. Make sure you prioritize your bullet points.
Use fragments. To include as much information as possible in your resume, use sentence fragments rather than complete sentences in your bullets. This way, your bullets will remain short and your message will remain clear.
Restrict colour usage You can be creative by slightly enlarging your name at the top of the CV, using a different font or colour to the rest of the text. Be sure to use colour sparingly and restrict it to no more than one colour in addition to black.
My advice: avoid the semicolon, even if you know how to use it. Periods: Believe it or not, the simple period often gets misused on resumes. Of course, periods are good to put at the end of complete sentences. But many resumes include lines that are not sentences and that end in periods.
Add Bullets to Existing Text Select the items you want to add bullets or numbering to. On the Home tab, select the bullet icon circled below. To move your bullet point, use the downward arrow on the ruler bar that lies below the menu and just above your document. Slide it to the correct location.
Should You Put Periods after Bullet Points on a Resume. Its a contentious point, but the generally agreed rule is that you have to include a period if youve written your resume bullet points as complete sentences. If theyre fragments however you can leave it out.
