If youre still locked out, were going to need to call in the cavalry aka the Recovery Mode. Restart your Mac and hold down the Command and R keys until you see the Apple logo. From the Utilities menu, pick Terminal. Type resetpassword and hit enter. Follow the instructions on the screen to reset your password.
Use the Reset Password assistant From the Utilities menu in the menu bar, choose Terminal. In the Terminal window, type resetpassword , then press Return to open the Reset Password assistant. If asked to select an admin user you know the password for, click Forgot all passwords?.
Once youve tried three times in succession to log in and have failed, you will see a message on the screen with options to reset your password. It may say Restart and show password reset options or Reset it using Apple ID. Whichever it is, click it. If your Mac restarts, wait for it to finish.
Remove a passkey or password from your Mac and iCloud Keychain On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Passwords in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click the Info button for the website. Click Edit. Click Delete Password or Delete Passkey. Click Delete Password or Delete Passkey (again).
Heres how: Click the Apple menu and select System Settings. Click Lock Screen in the sidebar. If youre using Monterey or earlier, select Security Privacy instead. Click the menu next to Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off and select Never.
You can attempt to unlock your MacBook Pro by using another admin account, a FileVault recovery key, a third-party software, or another admin account if you have forgotten your Mac login password and your user account, does not have an Apple ID associated with it.
How to remove the login password on your Mac Click on the Apple menu and choose System Settings. Select Users Groups. Click on the drop-down menu next to Automatically login and choose your user account. Type in your password and click OK. Quit System Settings.
How to factory reset a MacBook without a password Boot your Mac into recovery mode. Once your Mac has booted in recovery mode and you can see the macOS Utilities screen, choose Disk Utility. When Disk Utility opens, choose your Macs boot disk in the sidebar. Click Erase in the toolbar. Click Erase.
