The backlight is on and even you can increase and decrease brightness, but the screen keeps black. This may caused by corrupted bad applications, display settings, unknown macOS glitch or hardware issues. If your MacBook screen goes black and unresponsive, follow these methods to fix it. The simplest method is try to wake up Mac and force to shut down. First press Control and Power buttons. This will bring up the dialog box which you cant see. If your Mac is still unresponsive, press Option, Command and Powerbuttons, this is the shortcut to sleep the Mac. Wait for a while, press Power button to wake up your Mac. If the screen is still black, hold the Power button to turn it off. Wait 15 to 30 seconds and power it on. Check if your problem is fixed.
