5, 2022, at 11:17 a.m. This article is based on legacy software. Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro allows you to remove selected text and images from PDF documents. To remove selected areas of text or images from your PDF document, the Mark for Redaction tool is used.
Click on Tools > Redact; then choose the texts you want to redact. Click on the Edit tab, select Redact text and images, then drag the pointer over the text you want to redact. Select the text or image you want to redact and right-click the click on Redact.

If the Mark for Redaction selection is grayed out, then the document has been locked. You will need to open the document for editing. This should be a gray bar across the top.
With the Redact tool in Acrobat, you can permanently remove text and graphics from your PDF document. First, make a copy of your PDF so you don't accidentally lose something you want to keep. Then, go into Edit Mode and follow these steps to select text or images and redact them.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, and then do one of the following: Choose Tools > Redact. On the Edit menu, choose Redact Text & Images. Select the text or image in a PDF, right-click, and select Redact.

You highlight the words you want to redact and click the “Mark” button. You can do a search for a specific word(s) in order to mark them all for redaction. Once you are finished, the tool will then suggest you use Word's metadata inspector, which is described directly above.
To white out texts and pictures first tap on the "Protect" button and then click on "Redact" button. You will be required to select texts or pictures that you need whited out. Subsequent to highlighting the bits will seem dark in shading.
