thank you all for joining us for our third presentation of our summer seminar series racism of public health crisis my name is dr tamarsha volley im a human development professor here at eckerd and coordinator of the seminar along with dr bonner and robin hopewell so today i am happy to introduce you to dr martinez who brings her specialized teaching experience to the department of history at florida state university and to us today luckily dr megan helena martinez was born and raised in miami florida she graduated with her ba from florida state university in 2006 where she double majored in american history and english literature she continued her graduate studies at florida state receiving her masters in 2008 and phd in 2018 in african american history specializing in racial violence and lynching in the early 20th century she primarily researches the history of racial violence and racial inequality in the us and its legacies her current work focuses on racial violence and historic
