The logic behind using black ink is simple — it allows for easier digitising and copying. Black ink shows up better in copies and scans, unlike blue, which may appear a bit faint. Of course, we have much better scanners and copiers nowadays that wouldn't make using blue ink a problem.
The answer is simple. Black ink is still the best pen for signature on most legal documents. Despite blue ink's popularity, most professional documents and forms require us to use black ink. If you're applying for a new job, for instance, you may have to use a black ink pen.
Recent psychological studies suggest that reading and writing text in color increases the likelihood that you will remember the information. For example, one experiment found that a group of students had greater recall with blue text than with black by 27%.
Banks prefer blue because it's easier to verify that the signature is legitimate and the documents are original when they're signed in blue ink. Unlike black ink, a blue ink signature isn't as easy to reproduce.
While it's hard to say that either inappropriate, the general understanding is that black ink is more professional feeling and blue is more casual. So if you are dealing with the sort of people that might judge your or your business on its choice of ink color then make the safe bet and choose a black ink.
The best option when filling out professional documents is to use black or blue ink. Stay far away from any reds, greens, or purples. Moreover, don't even think about using a pencil. Any pencil marks can be easily erased (or changed), causing even more harm down the line.
Check Endorsements: The best pen for signature of a check is one with black ink. The contrast between black ink and a white or light-colored check is ideal for authentication, and black ink scans better. Passport Application: Passport forms should be filled in using black ink.
Based on my investigation, there is no one ink color that enhances memory retention. (As of now, there are not many studies on the correlation between ink color and recall memory, but we can make some conclusions.) It's obvious that plain black notes won't stimulate your attention levels to the fullest.
Recent psychological studies suggest that reading and writing text in color increases the likelihood that you will remember the information. For example, one experiment found that a group of students had greater recall with blue text than with black by 27%.
While both are acceptable, many people consider blue the optimal choice. The reasoning behind this is that the color will stand out among the walls of black text on the document while still being dark enough to read. Blue ink also indicates that the document is an original and not a copy.
