How to Redact Images in Microsoft Word Open the image in Microsoft Word. Select the area you want to redact using the drawing tools. Right-click on the selected area and choose the Format Picture option. In the Format Picture menu, click on the Picture Effects tab and select the Blur option.

If it is digital than get a photo editing software (like aviary or photoshop). Then blur the photo and color over with a drawing option. If this is a actual photo then take white out and color the face you want to hide. Then take a sharpie and color over the white out spot.
Redaction Tool For Microsoft Word To use the redaction tool in Word, you first need to select the text or images that you want to redact. Then, go to the Review tab in the ribbon and click on the Redact button. This will open the Redaction pane on the right side of the window.
Right-click the picture that you want to change, and then click Format Picture on the shortcut menu. Click the Picture tab. Under Image control, in the Color list, click Grayscale or Black and White.
