Choose a text that begins one to two lines beneath your deleted area and spans multiple lines there. Copy and paste the text into a Notepad file or a word processing document on Microsoft Word. Verify that the word processing program does not contain censored text. If its absent, the redaction was successful.
In Microsoft Word, redaction is the process of obscuring or deleting sensitive or confidential information from a document. When you redact a section of a document in Word, it is permanently blacked out or removed, and the original text cannot be retrieved.
Check the file properties. Under the Security tab, you should see that the file has been marked as Redacted.
Using the Text Selection Tool Open up any text editor (Word, Notepad, Text Edit, etc) If you redacted correctly then only the non redacted text should be displayed. If you see the text you were trying to remove than it was not done correctly.
However, if you have an Apple Mac, then the in-built Preview app has a redaction tool which is really easy to use. Simply open your document in Preview, click Tools Redact and then select the text or image you wish to redact. Save and then close the document, and thats it.
You can easily view blacked-out text in your PDF by following these steps: Open the PDF in Acrobat. Go to the Document menu. Click Examine Document. docHub will then scan the PDF and give you a checklist of items that you are able to remove by clicking on them. Choose the Preview button to see the hidden text.
Step # 3: Highlight the text you want to black out. Step # 4: Right-click on the highlighted text and select Properties from the dropdown menu. Step # 5: In the Properties window, click on the Fill tab. Step # 6: Choose the color you want to use to black out the text.
In your original Word document, replace all the text you wish redacted with the word [REDACTED], and/or do a FIND AND REPLACE of all the text you wish redacted. Example: Replace all instances of John Wilkes Booth with [NAME REDACTED], JWB or whatever you deem fit.
