Text redaction includes blacking out, blurring out, deleting, or other means of hiding text in a document. Blacking out text is just one method of redacting text to hide sensitive information.
In Microsoft Word, redaction is the process of obscuring or deleting sensitive or confidential information from a document. When you redact a section of a document in Word, it is permanently blacked out or removed, and the original text cannot be retrieved.
Secure document redaction techniques Redacting confidential material from a paper document before its public release involves overwriting portions of text with a wide black pen, followed by photocopying the resultthe obscured text may be recoverable from the original.
However, if you have an Apple Mac, then the in-built Preview app has a redaction tool which is really easy to use. Simply open your document in Preview, click Tools Redact and then select the text or image you wish to redact. Save and then close the document, and thats it.
Text redaction means removing sensitive information from a document before it is shared or made public.
The Basics of Redacting a PDF Document Open the PDF in your viewer and select the annotation or markup tool. Draw a black box over the information you want to hide. Save the document, and the information will be hidden when anyone opens it.
Heres how to black out text in a PDF: Open your PDF in docHub. Select Tools, then Redact. Select text. Either double-click to select the text or drag to select lines of text. Apply redaction. Once youve selected the text you want to remove, click Save to apply the changes and save the document.
Blacking Out Text Manually Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the ab highlighter icon in the Font section. Click the black box in the drop-down menu. Click the black line below the highlighter icon. Repeat this process of highlighting with black to cover text.
