What is a blackout? A blackout is a temporary loss of consciousness. It may also be called: fainting (syncope)

This will include things like difficulty remembering what happened in the previous evening or even the whole night. Extended and excessive alcohol abuse can also lead to dementia, which is described as permanent memory loss.
