If you have a blackout, you lose consciousness temporarily. Before that, you may: fall down. have blurred vision.
Just because they dont rant or rave, pick fights, fall down or vomit doesnt mean they arent experiencing a blackout. So, how can you tell if someone IS blacked out? Repeating the same story (or information or opinion) is a sure sign that short- term memory is gone and the person has blacked out.
A blackout is a loss of memory. Fainting, also called passing out, is a loss of consciousness.

Blackouts tend to begin at blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) of about 0.16 percent (nearly twice the legal driving limit) and higher. At these BACs, most cognitive abilities (e.g., impulse control, attention, judgment, and decision-making) are docHubly impaired.
What symptoms are related to blackouts? fall down. have blurred vision. feel confused. feel dizzy. look pale. feel anxious. be sweaty.
A blackout is not the same as passing out, which means either falling asleep or losing consciousness from drinking too much. During a blackout, a person is still awake but their brain is not creating new memories.
It can be difficult to identify whether someone is in a blacked- out state. People in blackouts are still able to walk, talk, have a conversation and retain basic functioning skills. Someone doesnt have to act out of the ordinary to be in a blacked out state.
Most unexplained blackouts are caused by syncope Many people, including doctors, assume that blackouts are due to epileptic seizures, but much more commonly they are due to syncope (pronounced sin-co-pee) a type of blackout which is caused by a problem in the regulation of blood pressure or sometimes with the heart.
