this is my fifth year in a row getting a thick tax refund you know tax refunds are a bad thing right how can getting money be bad because it means that you overpaid your taxes last year explain lets say based on your income last year you owe a total of 5k in taxes but since the tax result for your paycheck totaled 7k you get 2k of this paid back to you as your refund so my refund is really just extra money i lent to the government for free how can i fix this ask your employer for a w-4 so you can reduce the taxes taken out of each of your paychecks im so glad i follow nick

Wage and Tax Statement (Form W-2) If you do not provide a Form W-2 to each employee, or you give false or fraudulent statements, you will be fined.
However, what is printed in Box 14 of your W-2 may not match a description on the list. Select Other (Not Listed Here) for the Code for your Box 14 entry. If the item is not specifically included in the drop-down listings for Box 14, the IRS has not provided a place or specific instructions for reporting it.
Generally, you have to report payments from the following using box 14: Salary, wages, commissions or other remuneration including taxable benefits.
Items entered in box 14 must be labelled with a code that provides a brief description of the item. There are no standardized codes for box-14 because the federal government doesnt provide standardized codes for box 14 items, so employers can assign their own code that adequately describes the reported item.
The W-2 box 12 codes are: A Uncollected Social Security tax or Railroad Retirement Tax Act (RRTA) tax on tips. Include this tax on Form 1040 Schedule 2, line 13. B Uncollected Medicare tax on tips. Include this tax on Form 1040 Schedule 2, line 13.
Line 14A - Net Earnings (Loss) from Self-Employment - Amounts reported in Box 14, Code A represent the amount of net earnings from self-employment. For Limited Partners this amount generally includes any guaranteed payments received for services rendered to or on behalf of the partnership.
