In this video Iamp;#39;m going to show you what I think is the most exciting feature weamp;#39;ve added to Blackout since our initial launch of the product, Native Excel Redactions. In previous versions of Blackout like all other documents in Relativity, Excels needed to be redacted as images. For documents like email, forms, PDFs and other paper analogs this works very well. But Excel spreadsheets introduce many unique challenges like, less than perfect accuracy due to OCR, increased storage needs due to TIFFing and then a final produced TIFF that in some cases is impossible for the receiving party to navigate. 5 Quick Steps for Redacting PDF Documents Open the PDF file with data you must censor. Select the Security tab from the main ribbon. Click Mark Redaction. Select the text you wish to redact, which places a red border around the text. Click Apply Redaction on the Security ribbon to black out the text.
You can easily view blacked-out text in your PDF by following these steps: Open the PDF in Acrobat. Go to the Document menu. Click Examine Document. docHub will then scan the PDF and give you a checklist of items that you are able to remove by clicking on them. Choose the Preview button to see the hidden text.
In the drawing window, click on the text tool, which allows you to create shapes. Select the shape tool to draw a black rectangle. Place this shape over the specific text that needs to be hidden. Once youve covered all the sensitive text, click Save Close to add the black boxes to your document.
Redaction Tool For Microsoft Word To use the redaction tool in Word, you first need to select the text or images that you want to redact. Then, go to the Review tab in the ribbon and click on the Redact button.
Cut out the text that needs to be redacted. Use scissors to cut out all the text you need to redact. Make sure you find every mention of the sensitive information in the paper document and cut it out. NOTE: You should then shred the paper clippings to ensure the cut-out information cannot be traced or found.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, and then do one of the following: Choose Tools Redact. On the Edit menu, choose Redact Text Images. Select the text or image in a PDF, right-click, and select Redact. Select the text or image in a PDF, and choose Redact in the floating context-menu.
Cut-out (literally) all the text to be redacted and properly dispose of (shred) the clippings. This method will always be 100% effective. Use opaque (100% impenetrable by light; neither transparent nor translucent) tape or paper to cover over the sections to be redacted.
