Hello, Herman here with a new video in the ClearPass workshop series where we will build a ClearPass deployment from scratch, and integrate with Wired, Wireless, Active Directory, and much more. In our previous video, we enabled mac authentication on the AOS-CX wired switches, so we can authenticate devices that donamp;#39;t do dot1X authentication. As you can see on the CLI, you can see we have a 1X authenticated device now on port 3, and a mac authenticated device on port seven. However, thereamp;#39;s just an allow access, so we donamp;#39;t do any specific control. We do know the device types from the profiling. In this video weamp;#39;ll change that. And what we will do is, first of all, we will add some new roles to the Aruba AOS-CX switches. Weamp;#39;ll add access lists to the roles as well. We will do the role mapping and the enforcement on the ClearPass, so we can have automatic profiling. So letamp;#39;s get started. First, letamp;#39;s have a look on what we need to

Legacy authentication methods are vulnerable to account bdocHubes and expose security weaknesses that allow hackers backdoor access to organization data. Unlike modern authentication, legacy authentication neither understands nor supports MFA.

Due to the increased risk associated with legacy authentication protocols, Microsoft recommends that organizations block authentication requests using these protocols and require modern authentication.
Customers without licenses that include Conditional Access can make use of security defaults to block legacy authentication.
If you see modern mobile/desktop client or browser for a client in the Microsoft Entra logs, its using modern authentication. If it has a specific client or protocol name, such as Exchange ActiveSync, its using legacy authentication to connect to Microsoft Entra ID.
Browse to Identity Monitoring health Sign-in logs. Add the Client App column if it isnt shown by clicking on Columns Client App. Select Add filters Client App choose all of the legacy authentication protocols and select Apply. Also perform these steps on the User sign-ins (non-interactive) tab.
Legacy authentication is a term Microsoft sometimes uses to describe basic authentication when used with its cloud-based services. This is in contrast with the term modern authentication which provides more security and capabilities.
