If youre experiencing Excel cells turning black while typing, the issue likely stems from cell formatting. To address this, select the problematic cell or cells and navigate to the Home tab. Utilize the Fill Color tool, represented by a paint bucket icon, to choose a background color that contrasts with black.
Utilizing Conditional Formatting to Grey Out Cells To set up conditional formatting rules, go to the Format menu and select Conditional formatting. Conditional formatting is a powerful feature that allows you to visually emphasize important data points in your spreadsheet.
To get Google Sheets out of Dark mode, you can follow the same steps you used to enable it. Open the Google Sheets app on your device. From the home screen, where your spreadsheets are listed, click on the menu button in the top-left corner. Click Settings, then click Theme, and select Light.
Check that you do not have the Find dialog box (Control+F) open. Also see if the sheet has a conditional formatting rule that causes those fill colors. Another possible cause would be an onEdit(e) script. Check Extensions Apps Script.
I actually discovered the solution. If the spreadsheet was created and formatted on PC in Excel, the cells formatted as white fill turn black when typing. Either clear all formatting or reformat the spreadsheet using sheets Format:Themes. It have nothing to do with Chrome settings.
What you can try: Use your mouse to highlight/select your entire sheet. Click the filter icon. In column A click the filter drop down. Click Clear to clear all values, then click (Blanks) so that it is the only item checked. Click OK. Select all empty rows with your mouse, right-click, and delete.
Right-click the selected columns, and then select Hide.
Select a cell, then press Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow to highlight the blank cells until the end of the sheet. Press the shortcut key Ctrl+0 (zero) to hide the selected cells.
