Unlike binders or ace bandages, when properly applied TransTape will not compress or constrict your body throughout the day at all. And you can actually safely wear one application of TransTape for up to 5 days in a row!
TransTape will not compress your organs or ribs, it will not permanently alter your body and when used properly, it wont cause permanent skin damage either.
Avoid using ACE bandages, plastic wrap, and duct tape - these are not intended for binding and may be harmful to your body or skin.
But for the newer users, its even more important to take time for your body to recover. Ive personally been using TransTape for at least 4 years and I always try to take at least 12 to 24 hours for my skin to rest. But, it isnt just about the skin.
Stick your feet in between the shoulder straps and pull it up your body to your chest, then stick your arms through the holes. To make binding more comfortable, some people wear a light shirt underneath their binder or apply baby powder to their skin.
It is a more specified version of kinesiology tape if you are ever in a pinch you can use KT tape. Trans tape is a great alternative as you can wear it multiple days in a row, you can sleep in it, and you can swim and exercise in it.
The most popular safe methods are to use commercial binders, sports bras, strategic layering, and bandages or elastic materials. If youre binding frequently, make sure to take breaks throughout the day and take days off, as binding continuously can cause negative side effects (2,4).
In short, yes. Its safe, when applied properly, to tape your chest using TransTape.
