Im sure many of you who have seen a video of a powerlifting meet before have seen the three white or red lights that appear after a lift. These lights indicate a good lift (white lights) or not a good lift (red lights). In order for a lift to count, you must have 2 out of 3 white lights.
T1 are your main lifts and generally 85% 1RM weights for 1-5 rep sets. T2 are main lifts or main lift variants and generally 65%-85% for 6-10 rep. T3 lifts are generally accessory lifts for 10-15 reps per set. T1 should be 10-15 total reps.
Powerlifting is three lifts: Squat. Bench press. Deadlift.
Events. In a powerlifting competition, sometimes referred to as standard competition, there are three events: bench press, squat and deadlift.
At every competition, there will be three referees who collectively decide if the lift was good or bad. A white light is given for a good lift, where the lift is allowed to contribute to the total and a red light given for a bad lift, where the lift is not allowed to contribute to the total.
There are two types of powerlifting that you can do in competition: raw (or classic) and equipped. The difference between raw and equipped powerlifting are the kinds of equipment that you are allowed to wear.
The sport of powerlifting is based on three activities: the squat, the bench press and the deadlift. Despite its name, powerlifting is an exercise in strength not power.
The Dots Score is simply a ratio between a lifters body weight and the weight theyre lifting. Higher numbers are better. Also referred to as a coefficient, the dots score allows us to compare a lifters strength relative to their body weight.
