Though they are often used synonymously, BIND is the whole package. named is one of the parts of that package (but only one part.) BIND stands for Berkeley Internet Name Domain, is the most commonly used Domain Name System (DNS) server on the Internet. Named is the daemon used by BIND.
BIND is the de facto standard DNS server. It is a free software product and is distributed with most Unix and Linux platforms, where it is most often also referred to as named (name daemon). It is the most widely deployed DNS server.
The trace function outputs the trace message given as its first argument, before returning the second argument as its result. For example, this returns the value of f x but first outputs the message. The trace function should only be used for debugging, or for monitoring execution.
This means that a computer has multiple IP addresses. By binding a socket (or a similar operating-system object) to an address, you tell the operating system which of the addresses of a computer shall be used together with this socket: Lets say a computer has two IP addresses: 192.168. 1.4 and 192.168. 2.9.
When configured as an authoritative server, BIND provides DNS records that define how domain names relate to IP addresses and other resources. Forwarding and Caching: It can act as a caching resolver, reducing the load on upstream DNS servers by caching frequently accessed DNS records.
