Add a text box to a chart Click the chart to which you want to add a text box. On the Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click the Text Box icon . In the chart, click where you want to start a corner of the text box, and then drag until the text box is the size that you want.
To link a text box to a cell, have the text box selected, click in the Formula Bar and press = and then click the cell to link to and press Enter see Figure 02.
On the worksheet, click the shape or text box to which you want to link the cell contents. In the formula bar, type an equal sign (=). Click the worksheet cell that contains the data or text that you want to link to. Tip: You can also type the reference to the worksheet cell.
Select the cells you want to lock. On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, select the small arrow to open the Format Cells popup window. On the Protection tab, select the Locked check box, and then select OK to close the popup.
Use cell references in a formula Click the cell in which you want to enter the formula. In the formula bar. , type = (equal sign). Do one of the following, select the cell that contains the value you want or type its cell reference. Press Enter.
Add a text box (ActiveX control) Click Developer and then click Insert, and under ActiveX Controls, click Text Box . Click the worksheet location where you want the upper-left corner of the text box to appear. To edit the ActiveX control, click Design Mode . To specify the control properties, click Properties .
A requirement for linking one text box to another is that the second text box must be empty. Just select all of the text in the preformatted box and press Delete. Click to select your first text box. Then go to the Shape Format tab and click Create Link in the text section of the ribbon.
Select the text box. Go to the formulas tab. Write = and the cell address to which you want to link the cell, then press Enter. Now when the value in the cell changes the text box will dynamically change.
