In this video demonstration, I will show you the fastest ways to create new DITA topics in oXygen and how to convert existing DITA documents to another type. For this purpose, we will use an existing gardening DITA project. The first method for quickly creating a new DITA topic in oXygen is to use the new document wizard. I could, of course, start this wizard with the toolbar button but at some point I would still need to add it to my DITA map structure so it is better to invoke the action from the contextual menu in the DITA Maps Manager and a reference to the new topic will be added to the DITA map ing to the context of my selection. Iamp;#39;m going to choose to invoke the action from the amp;quot;Append Childamp;quot; submenu so that the new topic will be added as a child of the current selection in the DITA Maps Manager. In the New document wizard Iamp;#39;ll select a file template for the type of DITA topic that I want to create. Iamp;#39;ll enter a title so that I donamp;#

The linking attribute allows you to specify whether a link should appear in only one of the topics within a relationship. A topic can only be linked to and cannot link to other topics. A topic cannot be linked to but can link to other topics. A topic can be linked to and can link to other topics.
Open the Character Map dialog box by selecting More symbols from the Symbols drop-down menu on the toolbar (if this button is not displayed, right-click in the toolbar area, select Configure Toolbars and chosen to display the Symbols toolbar). Find the symbol and select it.
To link to another topic or external site inline, you use the xref element. As a general best practice, people say to avoid inline links if possible, but if referring to another topic or page, it might seem odd not to include the link. The topic title will automatically be used as the anchor text for the link.
DITA topics have two different types of links. In the body of the topic, you can use the xref element to insert cross reference or inline links. In the related-links part of the topic, you can use the link element to insert links. Related links are also generated from a relationship table when you publish a DITA map.
DITA maps often encode structures that are specific to a particular medium or output, for example, Web pages or a PDF document. Attributes, such as @deliveryTarget and @toc , are designed to help processors interpret the DITA map for each kind of output.
A link attribute simply assigns a value to a particular instance of the link, that is, for each pair of objects that are associated there is a particular value of the attribute.
