A binder or binding agent is any material or substance that holds or draws other materials together to form a cohesive whole mechanically, chemically, by adhesion or cohesion.
People bind in many different ways: Some people wrap their chests with elastic bandages, some wear a sports bra, neoprene or athletic compression wear, or layer several sports bras or shirts.
Binder/medical compression shirt Binders are the safest and most recommended way to bind.
hest binding is a way for many trans men to curb dysphoria, and is a fairly common step in FTM transition. Binding refers to flattening breast tissue to create a male-appearing chest using a variety of materials and methods.
The most popular safe methods are to use commercial binders, sports bras, strategic layering, and bandages or elastic materials.
Combine a t-shirt and a button-up to hide your chest under your clothing. Or, try a sports compression shirt under your favorite shirt. Be safe when you bind. Dont use duct tape, wear a binder for no more than 8 hours at a time, and take your binder off at night.
In addition to commercial binders, which are specially designed to bind the chest, common chest binding methods include: Wearing multiple sports bras. Strategically layering clothing. Flattening your breasts using kinesiology tape (sometimes sold as trans tape).
If you wear a binder much, it causes the breast tissue to migrate into a different position. You can end up with very saggy breasts. Nobody has done a study on how quickly this happens. (Some bloggers suggest maybe a year, maybe several years, depending on how often you bind.)
