Subjects are great for when you want to emit an event where the state of the event is not important, i.e. it is not important for the subscribers of the event to know about previous values emitted.
Promises are great for handling single asynchronous operations, while Observables shine when dealing with multiple asynchronous events over time. Subjects, being both Observers and Observables, are powerful tools for real-time communication among different parts of an application.
In Angular, Subject is a part of the RxJS (Reactive Extensions for JavaScript) library, which is widely used for handling asynchronous operations. A Subject is a special type of Observable that allows values to be multicasted to multiple Observers.
While a regular Observable emits a sequence of values over time, a BehaviorSubject keeps track of the current value and ensures that any new observer immediately receives that value, even if they subscribe after the BehaviorSubject has already started emitting values.
Subjects are multicasting whereas Observables are unicasting i.e. Subject provide same data to all its subscribers , whereas for an observable when a new subscriber is added then the observable is executed again and a new data stream is created , so the different subscribers get different data.
An RxJS Subject is a special type of Observable that allows values to be multicast to many Observers. While plain Observables are unicast (each subscribed Observer owns an independent execution of the Observable), Subjects are multicast. A Subject is like an observable but can be multicast to many Observers.
Every Subject is an Observer. To feed a new value to the Subject, just call next(theValue) , and it will be multicasted to the Observers registered to listen to the Subject.
Observables are ideal for handling streams of data, such as user input, WebSocket events, or HTTP responses, where multiple values might be emitted over time. Subjects are useful for scenarios where multiple parts of an application need to communicate and react to events in real time.
