Hardcover books are the most familiar example of case binding. A graphic designer, writer, and artist who writes about and teaches print and web design. The most common type of bookbinding for hardcover books is case binding. If youve bought a hardcover bestseller recently, it was casebound.
A hardcover, hard cover, or hardback (also known as hardbound, and sometimes as case-bound) book is one bound with rigid protective covers (typically of binders board or heavy paperboard covered with buckram or other cloth, heavy paper, or occasionally leather).
Set your binding-side margins to be 7/8 so that you leave enough room for your coil. There is nothing more frustrating than having to re-work your entire project because your margins were off.
Case binding is the traditional way to produce a hard backed book. The pages are sewn together in sections and attached to the inside of a case with end papers which are tipped on to the book block and then glued into the case. Case binding produces a hard back book which is long lasting and robust.
For bound books 6x 9 or smaller, use 0.5 margins on the top, outside and bottom of books, and a 0.75 inside margin. For 8.5x11 documents (bound or unbound), use 1-inch margins.
Case binding is very similar to perfect binding, but uses a hard cover rather than a soft cover. Called a case hence the name the hard cover is then wrapped in book cloth or faux leather or leather, and the title is usually foil stamped on the front cover and spine.
Book Binding, also known as Book Bindery, is the process of assembling and securing written or printed pages within a cover. In most cases, the cover is thicker than the interior pages to provide durability to the finished book.
Wire binding - Similar to comb binding, but uses metal wire looks more professional. Slide binders - Cheap, quick easy to use. Not as secure as other types. Thermal binding - Uses heat to bind pages.
