A bind rune or bindrune (Icelandic: bandrn) is a Migration Period Germanic ligature of two or more runes. They are extremely rare in Viking Age inscriptions, but are common in earlier (Proto-Norse) and later (medieval) inscriptions.
Activating bind runes involves focusing your energy and intention on the symbol to bring its power to life. This can be achieved through several methods, including: Meditation: Spend time meditating on the bind rune, focusing your mind on its meaning and significance, and visualizing the desired outcome.
Runes - an ancient alphabet The runic stones of the Viking Age were erected in commemoration of powerful leaders and their heroic achievements. Short runic inscriptions are also found on everyday artefacts from Viking towns and marketplaces. Runes were used alongside our present-day alphabet up until the 14th century.
The meaning of a bind rune tattoo is personal to the wearer, as it represents their individual hopes, desires, and beliefs. They are typically created for specific purposes, such as protection, love, or success, and can serve as a powerful reminder of the wearers intentions.
Runes are woven into Norse religion and are closely associated with Norse magic (seir) and skaldic poetry. The runes were not invented. The old poem Hvaml explains that Odin discovered the runes when he hung himself from the world tree Yggdrasil in order to learn wisdom.
The use of bind runes is not a new concept. In fact, its an ancient practice that dates back to the early use of runes as an alphabet. Essentially, a bind rune is a symbol composed of several runes overlaid, one on top of another, to form a single character.
A bindrune is a symbol made up of two or more runes. These runes are bound together to form one ligature, combining their meanings to enhance their power.
