(If you dont select any shapes, then the Merge Shapes button in step 2 will be grayed out.) On the Shape Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, select Merge Shapes to see a menu of merge options.
To show it, click on a shape or object in your slide, and the Drawing Tools tab should appear. The Shape Format button is located in the ribbon under the Drawing Tools tab. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have question or clarifications and I would be more than happy to address it on my next response.

Why is Merge Shapes not available in PowerPoint? There might not be any shapes selected on your slide. The Merge Shapes option appears only when you have at least two shapes chosen. Try inserting some shapes and then try merging them!
Bryll Karl P. Thank you for taking the time to write us in the Microsoft Community. If Merge Shapes button is grayed out, it means that you have not selected two or more different shapes.
