everything is in place letamp;#39;s check I hope I donamp;#39;t forget to click the record button and weamp;#39;re aligning on my second screen here to get all the slips stellar walaikum and this video will learn how to add more security to our applications running in Azure kubernetes service aks when we use passwords or private certificates or encryption keys we typically stay those into the secret object in kubernetes but that object does not really see a secret because itamp;#39;s at the end itamp;#39;s encoded using base64 so a good solution could be either to use a private encryption key to encrypt those values and save them into the etcd and kubernetes but again this means you will need to manage that private encryption key so another solution would be to use the KMS key management system like either either keyboard or a secure vault or many other solutions those systems they have good features like key rotation so that you can update your secrets frequently and then you can

Although ConfigMaps dont natively support encryption at rest or in transit, Kubernetes Secrets do. Use Secrets for any configuration data that needs encryption. And for added security, consider using a key management system (KMS) to manage your Secrets encryption keys. Better Alternatives Exist: Services like HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager are purpose-built for secure secret management. These services provide robust features like encryption at rest, access controls, and audit logs, ensuring a higher level of security compared to raw Kubernetes secrets.
SOPS is a tool that works similarly to Sealed Secrets, another Kubernetes Secret encryption tool. The main difference lies in the place where encryption happens. SOPS encrypts and decrypts the files client-side, while Sealed Secrets encryption/decryption takes place on the server side, on the cluster itself. There is no need to escape the special characters included in a files string. You can then view the secrets details using the kubectl describe secret db-user-pass command. By default, the kubectl get and kubectl describe commands do not reveal the contents of secrets to prevent their accidental exposure. ConfigMaps are typically used for non-sensitive configuration data, while Secrets are used for storing sensitive information. ConfigMaps stores data as key-value pairs, whereas Secrets stores data as base64-encoded data, thereby ensuring an additional layer of security.
Using a Secret means that you dont need to include confidential data in your application code. Because Secrets can be created independently of the Pods that use them, there is less risk of the Secret (and its data) being exposed during the workflow of creating, viewing, and editing Pods.
To use a Secret in a Deployment, you can add an environment variable that references the Secret. This YAML file defines a Deployment that has one container. The container has an environment variable called ` DBPASSWORD` that is set to the value of the ` password` key in the Kubernetes Secret called ` my-secret`.
The Secrets table lists the cluster Secrets. You can click the list items and open the details panel with comprehensive information and various options. The Namespace drop-down list filters the cluster objects by namespaces. You can also search for a specific item using the Search Secrets input field.
