Hi Im Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. Today we are going to talk about binding your quilt start to finish, even ending it. So what you are going to do when you get your quilt all quilted like this its completely done and quilted its time to bind it. Now this quilt that Im working with is from the disappearing nine patch window pane tutorial and if you want to see how thats done you can click the link below, but this one we are just going to show how to bind it. You can see I have the raw edge here. Ive trimmed my quilt so Im ready to bind it, and how I do that is I take some fabrics and I audition them. So I slide a fabric in under the edge here, I will move this over here so we can see it from the top camera, and you can see how the different fabrics are going to look on this edge. And sometimes you are just going to want to go with the same fabric because you just want it to blend and go, and sometimes you want a little bit of contrast. But today we are going to go

Use double quotation marks () around a direct quote. A direct quote is a word- for-word report of what someone else said or wrote. You use the exact words and punctuation of the original. Harriet Jacobs writes, She sat down, quivering in every limb (61).
Do not capitalize the first word in the second half of a split quotation. Jailen said, Scientists hope that someday people will live on Mars. Scientists hope that someday people will live on Mars, said Jailen. Scientists hope, said Jailen, that someday people will live on Mars.
When you quote directly from a source, enclose the quoted section in quotation marks. Add an in-text citation at the end of the quote with the author name and page number, like this: Heres a direct quote (Smith 8).
When using partial quotes (rather than quoting a full sentence), you do not need to introduce the quote with a comma or a capital letter, and the closing punctuation goes outside the final quote marks. Example: Someone once said that a cup of tea would suffice but I cant remember who.
When multiple quotation marks are used for quotations within quotations, keep the quotation marks together (put periods and commas inside both; put semi-colons, colons, etc., outside both).
Direct Quotations Example: My sister said, I need to do my homework. If the quoted material is a fragment or a phrase, do not capitalize the first letter. Example: The phrase don‟t win in practice is consistent for all sports.
Use ellipsis points to show omission within the quotation. Omit any punctuation on either side of the ellipsis, unless the punctuation is necessary to make the shortened quotation grammatically correct.
When multiple quotation marks are used for quotations within quotations, keep the quotation marks together (put periods and commas inside both; put semi-colons, colons, etc., outside both).
A quote can be split by the attribution the who said. You have to decide whether the 2nd half is a full sentence or not. If the 2nd half is a continuation of the quote, then dont use a capital. If the 2nd half is a sentence by itself, then use a capital.
A partial quotation is one that does not constitute a complete thought or is a complete thought has been incorporated into a framing sentence.
