DNA being wrapped around histones is what we refer to as a nucleosome and these nucleosomes decorate the DNA like beads on a string to package it in the nucleus it still is not clear how how transcription factors are able to bind these regions of DNA that are seamed wrapped up and hidden in this chromatin and then subsequently how can they open it so then itamp;#39;s like a new or itamp;#39;s an open region of DNA for James to be activated and expressed we know that it happens we just donamp;#39;t know how it happens and so we needed to use structure high resolution imaging in order to figure out how the interaction occurs between the transcription factor in specific transcription factors that we chose to look at I called opt for and Sox too they work together but they can or they have been referred to as pioneer transcription factors because they are the first vectors that are able to gain access to the DNA and nucleosomes and then open it up for other factors to come in li

TF binding sites (TFBSs) on DNA are short sequences located in regulatory regions of genes, typically range from a few to about 20 base pairs (bp), and binding regions of one TF on different genes are usually conservative.
Increased transcription of a distant gene will result from the binding of a transcription factor to an enhancer region. A mutation within the promoter region can alter transcription of a gene.
Transcription Factors and Combinatorial Control Transcription factors (TFs) are regulatory proteins whose function is to activate (or more rarely, to inhibit) transcription of DNA by binding to specific DNA sequences.
The function of DNA binding is either structural or involves transcription regulation, with the two roles sometimes overlapping. DNA-binding domains with functions involving DNA structure have biological roles in DNA replication, repair, storage, and modification, such as methylation.
Transcription factors are proteins that help turn specific genes on or off by binding to nearby DNA. Transcription factors that are activators boost a genes transcription. Repressors decrease transcription.
Transcription factors (TFs) bind to specific DNA motifs to regulate the expression of target genes. To docHub their binding sites, TFs diffuse in 3D and perform local motions such as 1D sliding, hopping, or intersegmental transfer.
The DNA sequence that a transcription factor binds to is called a transcription factor-binding site or response element. Transcription factors interact with their binding sites using a combination of electrostatic (of which hydrogen bonds are a special case) and Van der Waals forces.
