The binding margin should be at least 40mm with 20mm on all other sides. If you print on both sides of the paper, you will need to mirror the margins, so that the wider margin is always on the bound edge.
The binding edge is the Inside, and the free edge is the Outside. Often you will want the Inside margin to be larger, to allow for binding. This larger margin will alternate from left (Inside on a Recto page) to right (Inside on a Verso page).
In general, for spiral or wire-o bound products we recommend 1/2 margins to be safe. However, if space is an issue, you can follow these specific guides: Holes for spiral binding are smaller and only require 1/4 of the binding edge. Wire-o holes are larger and require 1/2 margins.
Margins. Same Day Printing advises you to use a 12mm margin on the outer edges (bottom, top, and outside edge) of your page. An 18mm margin should be used on the inside/ binding edge of the page.
Use 1-inch margins on every side of the page for an APA Style paper. However, if you are writing a dissertation or thesis, your advisor or institution may specify different margins (e.g., a 1.5-inch left margin to accommodate binding).
LaTeXs margins are, by default, 1.5 inches wide on 12pt documents, 1.75 inches wide on 11pt documents, and 1.875 inches wide on 10pt documents. This is the standard for book margins. If you want to change them, you have several options: the geometry package, the fullpage package or changing the margins by hand.
Spiral Binding Margin For spiral bound booklets, the binding will go into the page approximately 0.28. We recommend at least a 0.5 binding margin. This will ensure you dont have any content that goes into or is too close to the binding.
Margins are very important when it comes to binding. No margins = Text/images cut off in the binding process. For single-sided printing, we recommend a margin of 3cm on the left side and 2.5 cm on the other three sides. For double-sided printing, we recommend a margin of 2.5 cm on all four sides.
