Text. Writing text in a LaTeX document is easy. Once you are inside the body of the document, as described in the Document Structure section of this page, all you have to do is start typing. When you compile the code LaTeX will take care of all the text formatting based on any commands and packages used.
Within ⟨ body ⟩, you can use: \opening{⟨ salutation text ⟩} for the letter greeting, and. \closing{⟨ closing text ⟩} for the closing text (such as Yours Sincerely). \ps ⟨ postscript text ⟩ \cc{⟨ text ⟩} \encl{⟨ text ⟩} \name{⟨ text ⟩} \signature{⟨ text ⟩} \address{⟨ text ⟩}
Each letter consists of four parts. Opening (like \opening{Dear Sir or Madam,} or \opening{Dear Kate,} ). Main body (written as usual in LaTeX). Closing (like \closing{Yours sincerely,} ). Additional elements: post scripta, carbon copy and list of enclosures.
Theres no specific command for subjects in letter style, so do something like this: \bigskip \textbf{Subject line} \bigskip\noindent First paragraph of text
Luckily, its very easy to cross something out in a LaTeX expression. Simply use the \cancel{x} command, where x is whatever you want to cross out.
\address defines what will be printed as your return address; \\ is used to separare lines. The address of the recipient is specified in the braces right after \begin{letter}. after the \closing{}; there can be as many ccd people as you want.
If you need to add a signature space and line, just create a table of one column. You can do it without creating a table too, however, it helps if you need additional customization in the left or right side. In the following code, \vspace{25mm} is used to have a space for the signature.
You can define a title for your document using \title{} and then create the title itself using \maketitle . You can also add other information such as the author(s) and the date, e.g. Note the use of \today to automatically insert the date you created the document. Of course you can just write a date if you prefer!
