A legend is used to describe elements for a particular area of a graph. Python has a function called legend() which is used to place a legend on the axis. The legend function has an attribute called loc which is used to denote the location of the legend. The default value of attribute loc is upper left.
A legend is used to identify data in visualizations by its color, size, or other distinguishing features. Simply connect one or more data visualizations to a legend and they will automatically display a table of symbols and descriptions to help users understand what is being displayed.
Right click on the graph and select Data Ranges. Select the Data Series tab and in the Data Ranges box click on Name. In the Range For Name box you can enter the cell address that contains the name or use the cell selection button just to the right to select the cell with the mouse. Click OK and the legend will update.
A chart legend appears by default when you first create a chart. For most charts, legends show the names and colors of each series of data. The legend text is taken from the charts data range.
A data label is a text providing additional information, for example about a data series or a data point. A legend is a key that explains the colors, patterns or symbols in a chart.
The legend included the key but also all kinds of other information - the map scale, the projection, sources, who made it, copyright details and so on. But nowadays, key and legend are used interchangeably to mean the same thing, and because common usage should always be your guide, you can use either too.
You can also add or edit the legend later. To do so: Double-Click on the chart to open Chart edit mode (or right-click on the chart and select Edit ); right-click on the chart to open the context menu and select Data Ranges , or.
What is a legend in Excel? A legend in Excel matches data within a table or chart with what it represents, which can help prevent confusion when readers analyze a chart or graph. You can use a legend to show the same data differently, or it can clarify what the various axes, colors or labels on a chart mean.
