In the worst case, you can bruise your ribs when you bind your breasts with duct tape or bandages. A correct size binder will fit like a second skin around your body. If you are uncomfortable with wearing very tight items like binders, perhaps try binder tape (also known as trans tape).
Never apply the tape over broken skin. If you experience any redness, tenderness, or discomfort, you should remove it immediately and discontinue use. Never wear the tape overnight as this will make removal more difficult.
TransTape does not compress or wrap around your torso like a binder does, allowing you to breathe freely while you go about your day. I mentioned a few times how TransTape does not compress your body and that makes it a good option for those of us who struggle with asthma or other breathing related conditions.
Gently lay the first 2 inches of TransTape on your skin and lightly rub to activate the adhesive. Taking your time, line up your breast tissue so that it may all get tucked into the tape. Taking care not to overhandle your TransTape, as this will lessen the adhesive. Hold your TransTape taught, avoiding any wrinkles.
Binding, in our opinion, is extremely risky and dangerous. It is uncomfortable and very damaging for the body. Binding compresses the torso and all the organs hiding inside. It is known to puncture lungs, break ribs and restrict breathing.
Stick your feet in between the shoulder straps and pull it up your body to your chest, then stick your arms through the holes. To make binding more comfortable, some people wear a light shirt underneath their binder or apply baby powder to their skin.
Generally speaking, binding will not cause problems with your surgical plan.
Unlike traditional binding garments such as binders/compression garments, trans tape is generally easier to customize to the body and needs of the individual, and some might find it more comfortable or affordable than other options for binding. It also avoids using compression to achieve the appearance of a flat chest.
